Will Pavel flee from France?
Many curious people probably wonder if Pavel Durov will flee from France after being released from custody. Crypto Lists think he will rather reach a deal than accepting jail time in France. After all, it’s probably not possible for him to flee even if he paid the 6 million EUR in bail and now have to await the trial.
The Boston founded investigative journalism website Frontline wrote an article about how Telegram become the “center of gravity” for a new type of domestic terrorism in the U.S, but it seems like they already work together with America to stup such action. So if he already work with the U.S, why not work with France also?
It’s worth to notice that Americans are some of the few citizens around the world that cannot use Telegram casinos. Perhaps we should add French to the list of potentiella restricted countries for casinos running on Telegram in the near future?

Telegram’s earlier troubles with Russia
When the Russian government requested that Telegram’s CEO should give them access – he pointed the middle finger and quickly fled the country. Since the 16th of April, the Russian government has blocked access to Telegram when possible. However, the June 19, 2020 – access was granted to Russians again after Pavel Durov agrees to help with extremism investigations. Telegram also works closely with Europol since 2015 according to documents and press we found online – at least when it comes to terrorism. We think it’s cool that they do since nobody wants terrorism on their doorstep – except the terrorists themselves.
Today, many in both Russia and Ukraine seem to use Telegram and it’s likely the biggest app used for secure messages in this region. Putin himself was annoyed after the big terror attack in March (2024) in a concert hall in Moscow where over 140 people died. He asked Pavel Durov to monitor it more closely, according to Politico. Still, Russia never arrested the founder and he has lived outside the world’s biggest country since 2014, when he gained citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis. After that, he also became a passport holder in UAE and France.
Who is Pavel Durov – The CEO of Telegram?
Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, is 39 years old and often described as a maverick in the tech world together with his less known brother that won several big maths competitions when he was young. Pavel grew up in the northern Italian town of Turin when he was young with his family and went to school there. He then moved back to Russia after Soviet Union collapsed, until Russia required to get access to Telegram. He moved to Dubai (UAE) in 2017 and Telegram’s headquarters is also based there now.
Pavel Durov is known for his staunch advocacy for privacy, free speech, and resistance against government overreach – a bit similar to Elon Musk that also endorse him. Born on October 10, 1984, in Russia, Durov first gained prominence as the co-founder of VKontakte (VK), Russia’s largest social networking site, which earned him the nickname “Russia’s Mark Zuckerberg”. However, his tenure at VK was marked by conflicts with Russian authorities over censorship and user privacy. In the end, he sold the company and left Russia.
Durov’s philosophy became even more clear with his even bigger project Telegram, which he founded after leaving Russia. Telegram that focus on encryption and user privacy, embodies Durov’s commitment to providing a platform where communication is free from government surveillance and censorship. His approach to running Telegram is notably independent; with a rather small team, minimal advertising and no external funding.
A firm free speech stance
His stance on freedom of speech and privacy has made Telegram a popular choice all around the world and shown Durov in the light of resistance against authoritarian control, especially when it comes to digital communication. This stance has led to conflicts with various governments. Initially he had trouble in Russia, where Telegram was blocked due to refusing to share the encryption keys.
The Durov brothers are both controversial but well respected in the tech community. After all, they first created the equivalent of Facebook in Russia with over 1000 million users, followed by the encryption messaging app Telegram.
